Sustainability and Aquaculture
Aquaculture is an important sector covering the ever-increasing demand for food worldwide. Wild fish stock is dramatically diminishing and at the same time world population is rapidly increasing and as a consequence, so is demand for food. Mediterranean aquaculture is one of the most effective ways of protein production of high nutritional value with a view to meeting the increasing demand for food.
At the same time, Mediterranean aquaculture bases its development, whose future looks more and more promising, and its operation on principles such as the protection of the environment, the contribution to the reduction of overfishing and the most effective use of the available biological sources.
