The ω3 Fatty Acids

The benefits of ω3 polyunsaturated fatty acids became the subject of research, when it was discovered that populations who consumed a lot of fish oil  showed low levels of cardiovascular diseases. Consumption of fish oils seemed to be an important factor in avoiding infarctions and heart attacks.

The ω3 fatty acids help the heart to function well, the blood pressure to remain normal and the triglycerides in the blood to remain in normal levels.

The recommended daily input of EPA %DHA in order to maintain the good function of the heart is estimated to 250gr (EFSA NDA Panel 2010). Multiples of the above mentioned amount is included in 100gr farming Sea Bream and Sea Bass (1300-2000mg). Consumption on a weekly basis of 1-2 portions, within the frame of a balanced diet ensures the above mentioned results.
